Growing a mailing list is important, especially when you don’t have any clients. I plumped for MailChimp as it’s pretty much free until you get over 2,000 subscribers ( 2000 subscribers – if only!).
Everything’s all set up I’ve got my mailing list sign up on my website – but no one really signed up, I needed more to get someone to give me their email. I needed to get things going so decided, before Christmas, to run a Twitter campaign that offered a free marketing planning template. It went down well and I got around 55 people signed up. Not bad for £30.
After Christmas I thought I’d run the campaign again. I did and did I get more sign ups? No I didn’t. I could see people were clicking on the ad link but they just weren’t joining up. I have no idea why this is happening. I have just today

I have just today paused a campaign where I was offering a free blog template to people that signed up to my mailing list – thinking maybe the planning one is done for now. No-one wants my freebie. Over 80 clicks and not one sign up. I need to get the thinking hat out ( and yes the sign up is working – i’ve tested it twice…). Watch this space.
